Glazing Panel of the Shanghai Stock Exchange Building

The Shanghai Stock Exchange Building is the cubbyhole for my working life in the last three years. On Monday morning July 28th, its front entrance was partially barricaded. A rectangular glazing was found emptied out. The morning stream of white collared workers entering the building would have to be channeled through one of the several revolving doors nearby for safety concern.

On the way back from grocery shopping this Sunday morning, a tractor was parked in front of the building and two scaffoldings erected for the workers to remedy the situation. In fact, there were altogether two high hung glazing disintegrated, most likely due to the sweltering heat.

A huge glazing, larger than human scale, of the China Telecom building immediately next door also suffered the same fate at the end of last year. The direct cause was the deep freeze according to speculation, conditionally similar to the heat mentioned. The great differential of indoor and outdoor temperature has caused the glazing panel to disintegrate.
