Personally, the cry baby photo is definitely The Photo of the Year and I am sure a lot of you would have agreed to my POV. The photo brings so much joy to me. I also put it onto the computer wallpaper. Hahaha...!

Late Sunday afternoon out at the Lujiazui Park

After the long day kept indoor doing many house chores, I had to relief for a good fresh afternoon air at the Lujiazui Park which is within short strolling distance of where I live. Right behind the building with criss-crossing facade shown at the right end picture below is where I live. I always enjoy taking this panoramic view with the lake as foreground, guess there is some intrinsic attractiveness in this sensaround view even though most of the buildings are some ugly post-modern fakes.

The views on top and bottom are more or less the same but taken at different distance with grass and lake as foreground respectively. For urbanism, it makes a lot of esthetic difference when the context is surrounded by nature, and something ignored in genuine design by many ignoramus so called urban or architectural designers.

Nearly completed Shanghai World Financial Tower is shown on the left and it has already overtaken as the tallest in mainland China several months ago, beating out the Jinmao Tower shown on the right. Both, however, are some qualifying, elegant high modern design.

Flanked by two gray tone urban facades, the Shanghai Pearl TV Tower appears diminished in between.

Such is urbanism, all the competing interest in overwhelming rising scale and in attempting to penetrate the hazy afternoon sky as shown above and below. Below, on the far left is the Dongfang Hospital and I live behind it inside a neighborhood unit. I roam around this area a lot, for e.g. to catch buses to elsewhere.

At the Bund on hazy Saturday

On a hazy Saturday afternoon after a good nap, I was out with Sunny Liu (photo above) to hang out at the Bund to see some exhibitions besides walking around listlessly. Later, crossing the Huangpu River, we ended up in the Superbrand Mall for Italian dinner at Saizeriya, a family joint with so so food and fair service.

The exhibition The End is an End at 3 on The Bund is rather a corny presentation, none other than heaving or sighing without sense in the context of an overblown economy that completely heeds my inevitably muted balloon phobia, and not particularly a very sincere and cordial invitation to attend the over-rated installation exhibition.

The entrance to 3 on The Bund is definitely some hospitable spring fragrance ambience.

I am also crossed out by the decoratively tattooed blue and white panda cub.

Mission Impossible...I am real, they are not.

Really need to coke up for my hazy day out.

The Zhongshan Road 1 aka The Bund was closed for renovation and for the Olympic torch to come around.

The Torch

The Olympic torch came close to office and my neighborhood at 2pm today. Many were so hyped up with their spending spree in t-shirts, flags, banners and other memorabilia.

With the torch trailblazing, these young and restless co-workers were all set for the Olympic spirit...

Setting example for the upcoming Olympic besides his entrepreneurial spirit, a vendor was pushing patriotism on the street.

Order, order, please!

So hyped up! Jia-you-Zhong-Guo! Go! Go! Go! Ole! Ole! Ole! China!

12th floor of UDG

Where I have been working as an Administrative Researcher in the last three years, from May 8, 2005 till to-date, UDG has since expanded to well over 300 staffs. When I joined back then, my staff number was right on 100. This implies the company has tripled in size over the last three years. In the first year, I managed to name all the faces I could recognize but today I could not tell if anyone is a part of UDG.

The following are shots I took during an early morning before the massive arrival. On this 12th floor and a new addition expanded to house the design teams, I am allocated in one of this area. The design display wall is set up by me as directed by my boss. Every now and then and to change scenery in between two to three weeks, I would go around looking out for design completed or in the process being done from any design team to display on the wall.

At this moment, it is also high time for me to note that I arrived in Shanghai to be gainfully employed since April 2004. It's amazing to find that I have been here in Shanghai, China for four years.

Yes, four years!
